Saint Seiya is one of the very old animes from my childhood. I cannot remember all the episodes as I was very young but I do remember watching it with my brother. I couldn’t help myself and I decided to make her cosplay with some leftover foam that I had from another build.
How I made Saori Kido
I made this costume with extra material I had from my Wonder Woman cosplay. Overall, I really love the vaporous dress which is made with a half circular skirt as a base in white crepe. It is a comfortable dress despise the corset made in foam. I painted the armour pieces with gold spray and added some extra details with cabochons painted with nailpolish.
All the details are hand carved and shaped with a heat gun. I mixed 2mm and 5 mm foam for this project and I sanded it all with my rotatory tool. I also used my pirographer to add some extra details to the headpiece.
Wearing Saori Kido cosplay
I made Saori for a photoshoot at home. At the time I only had a curly wig and I wasn’t completely happy with the make up I chose to wear for her. However, I got the chance to play with my photoshop skills which wasn’t so bad.
Fast forward to next year, I had the chance to wear Saori again in Montrose Studios with the fantastic photographer Sheridan Photography. It is incredible how much difference the right wig can make. Also, this time I chose a lighter make up which I believe worked much better with the character, including a change of contact lenses.
