The story of Princess Jellyfish is so cute that I coudln’t help myself and want to make this cosplay. Tsukimi is basically an Ugly Betty in love with jellyfish and who knows nothing about men. She meets this beautiful person, Kuranosuke, but he turns out to be a man! (It’s a trap).
Kuranosuke is the representation of the Harajuku style, and I wanted to make his beautiful princess jellyfish outfit for a photoshoot at the beach.
How I made Kuranosuke Koibuchi Cosplay
First I started with the skirt. I made a full circle skirt a bit wider than my hips and secured it with elastics. Then I ruffled all the ribbons surrounding the skirt and attached pearls to the bottom as well.
I made a new petticoat and wore two petticoats underneath this cosplay and it still wasn’t enough! As the beads were so heavy they pulled down the skirt, and it didn’t have as much puffyness as I would have liked.
In order to give more volume to the wig I sew two wigs together. I have a tutorial explaining how I did this step by step.
Wearing Kuranosuke Koibuchi Cosplay
I started this cosplays many years ago. I wanted to be a princess for a change. You may have noticed I usually choose warrior characters. This was my escape from them.
Unfortunately it became one of those unfinished projects for a long time. I moved house, and country! And it ended up almost finished but never quite in a corner of my room.
Fortunately, my friend Paul gave me a good excuse to finish it. He wanted to take pictures at the sunset by the beach, and I remembered how much I wanted to wear this jellyfish costume near the water. We had a great day and we created some beautiful pictures!
