3N Contact Lens Cleaner Review

I always try to keep the most care with my contact lenses. I have a very big collection and it is hard to keep them in good shape. As I don’t wear them daily, I want to make sure I can clean them quickly and safely. That’s why I decided to buy a contact lens cleaner. And of course, I decided to make a review of it. Here you have my 3N Contact Lens Cleaner review.

If you are wondering what his machine really does keep reading. Basically, it absorbs the tear protein that accumulates on your lenses after you wear them. The protein is usually the cause of itchy eyes and can help bacteria reproduce on your contact lenses.

Packaging and shipping

As always my trusted page to get anything related to contact lenses is Uniqso. My parcel came in a padded jiffy bag inside a biodegradable bag so I was sure the machine was going to be safe. I also got a little contact lens case as a present as well as other bits I purchased together with my contact lens cleaner. The box comes inside a plastic cover and it arrived without a scratch in just a week.

You can tell the care and the time put into this little machine just by looking at the package. It comes in a hard cardboard box with foam padding and it perfectly sits on its case in two parts. The instructions are both in Chinese and English and they come with easy to understand diagrams which tell you how to use the machine. Although the page says they come without batteries mine surprisingly had them already included so it was a nice surprise.

Description of the 3N Contact Lens Cleaner

The 3N Contact Lens Cleaner comes in several colours: black, white, pink and turquoise. I chose the turquoise as I love that colour and I thought it would be easier to see any dirt or wear on a light colour like this one.

As I said, the cleaner comes in two parts, the base connects with the cleaning chamber with magnets which guarantees a perfect fit each time. The cleaning chamber comes with a hinched cover to keep it clean and a second rubber cover for the lenses space. The rubber cover just sits on top to avoid any impurities getting into your lenses but you can remove it in order to use the machine.

The design is very thoughtful, the chamber fits on the palm of your hand and it has a little space for plastic tweezers and a sticky wand. It opens with hinges and releases with a push button. There is a mirror inside which makes it easy to wear your lenses straight away. The cleaning chamber is replaceable. This means that you don’t need to buy the whole machine again if it wears off. It is totally a plus for the design of this machine.

The machine works with AAA batteries which are very easy to access to from the back panel. As the cleaning chamber is removable you don’t need to worry about spilling the contact lens solution if your machine runs out of energy. I believe the batteries must last for a while as the machine is actually very quick to use. When you press the power button, it lights up until the process finishes with no noise to be heard.

How it works

This machine has two charged poles that create an electric field. The proteins of your eyes carry negative charges which get attracted to the positive pole on your machine. Basically like a magnet. The positive pole absorbs the dacryolin, aka the tear protein, and the negative releases hydrogen which helps remove the protein from the contact lens.

There are other ways of cleaning your contact lenses, but they are not as effective as the cleaner machine and they can potentially damage your lens if you are not careful.

You just need to fill your machine with all purpose solution and then inmerse your contact lenses on it. Then press the button and wait 30 seconds for the machine to do its magic. When the light goes off your lenses will be ready to wear again and free of tear protein. Goodbye itchy eyes and bacteria problems. Of course it is not 100% efficient but it claims to reduce 98% infection possibilities, which is not bad.

Final rating

I absolutely love this little machine. Even if it is just for the piece of mind that you are taking care of your lenses as well as you can. I am not a contact lens daily user so I probably have less problems with my eyes than other people, but I think it is definetely a must if you have to wear them every day. If your eyes are really healthy and you never had an itch before, well, don’t expect to feel any difference, it doesn’t mean the machine is not doing its job. The design is cute, portable and it is so easy and quick to use. Even the price is really fair. A really well thought machine.
