Have you ever made a cosplay based on a location? That is exactly what I made for my Diana Prince Gala Dress Cosplay. She wears this amazing blue dress in an old mansion. I already knew a place like that and I thought it would be a great idea. I already had her cosplay as Wonder Woman and her secretary grey suit, this one completed the triumvirate.
This cosplay was a challenge for me as at the time I was told I shouldn’t do it. I wasn’t as pretty, as tall or as good as Gal Gadot. Whatever, maybe I am not, but I will not stop doing what I like just because of a petty person being mean and sad. I am a warrior, and as such I will not let anyone put me down.
How I made it
This dress was a real challenge to me. I has over 3 meters of fabric gathered and shaped to look like a greek godess. I started by making a mock up with old sheeting fabric so I could just play with shapes. When I finished, I made a similar pattern with my blue fabric. It was much ligher and flowy.
For the final piece, I made a base with some more fabric that shaped my body in a normal bodice. Then I gathered the fabric on top and attached it to my base. Everything is handsewn in place to make sure it doesn’t move. Apart from the bodice, all the gathers, the top and the skirt are one piece.
Wearing my Diana Prince Gala Dress Cosplay
The chosen location of my Gala Dress was the amazing Woolton Hall Mansion in Liverpool. John Ayliffe organised the shoot and I was lucky enough to work with some amazing photographers like Stephen Johnson and Alex Anderson
Both the interiors and the exteriors of this ancient house are amazing and they just made me feel like the real Wonder Woman.
