My Wonder Woman cosplay was one of my biggest builds ever. Overall, it took me over a year to finish it. I had to delay it several times in order to get the best results on it.
One of the reasons why it took me so long to finish it was that I decided to complete the character with her grey suit, her sword and shield, and her cloak. They would all play their part on my performance at the UK Cosplay Championship that I entered in London. For the photoshoot I also decided to make her blue gala dress later on.
How I made my Wonder Woman cosplay
Most of my armour was made with several layers of high density foam. I have already showed you how I treat my foam to create armour. In this case I added a little trikc and scratched the surface with a pet brush to create the unique texture. Also, I used aluminium foil to create the leather look of the skirt.
For the shield and sword I carved the details with a knife and scored the runes with a soldering iron. The sword core was made with balsa wood, but it was so fragile that it cracked which made it flimsy. You can download the blueprint for the tiara below.
In this occasion I decided to use car paints to get the shimmery colour of the armour and skirt. I also weathered it and added scratches as in the film and finished with some fake leather details.
I was very happy with my cloak. This time I used a three part cloak pattern with an oversized hood and a black fur trim which I remade. The first time I wore it I had to improvise with some trims I had at home as the fur didn’t arrive on time.
I used lots of contour on my make up to imitate Gal Gadot’s features. I also used a dark brown parted wig for her hair and brown tones and a bit of bronzer for her face.
Wearing my cosplay
This cosplay was a real challenge. I finally was able to wear it in London for a competition. As I thought it would be appropriate, but never got to take pictures there. Paul Wills did an amazing job taking these ones later on.
It was much later when I managed to take pictures in an old mansion called Woolton Hall. It is a fantastic place, unfortunately it has been vandalised several times and it is now in a poor state. I can imagine the grandeur of the building when it was first built. At some point I hope it can be restored.
I was lucky enough to pose for several photographers, another one of them was Phil Palin. The settings around Woolton Hall building are as beautiful as the ones inside.
