How to sew bias tape may seem very easy but most people don’t do it properly (I just learnt there was a right way of doing it a month ago myself). First of all, what is the bias of a fabric? This only means the diagonal of your fabric.
Como coser cinta al bies puede parecer fácil pero la mayoría de gente no lo hace bien (yo supe que había una manera correcta de coserla sólo hace un mes). Primero de todo, ¿que es el bies de una tela? El bies es sólo la diagonal de la tela.
Why do we use bias cuts instead of cutting the fabric straight? If you cut your fabric on the bias it will adjust better to curves and will fray less. Luckily, you don’t need to make your bias tape. Although you can make your bias tape if you want. there is a number of different colours and widths in the shops.
¿Porqué utilizamos el corte en bies en vez de cortar la tela recta? Si cortas la tela al bies se ajustará mejor a las curvas y se deshilachará menos. Afortunadamente no necesitáis hacer vuestra cinta al bies. Aunque podéis hacer vuestra propia cinta al bies, también podéis comprarla de muchos colores y grosores en las tiendas
How to sew bias tape
1. Open you bias tape and align it with our fabric face to face. Pin it (optional)
2. Sew you bias using the fold of the tape as a reference on where to place the stitch.
3. Remove the pins and fold the bias over the edge. Pin in place and overstitch it
4. If you followed the previous step correctly you will notice that you have sewn both the front and back of your bias.
1. Abrid vuestra cinta al bies y alineadla con la tela cara con cara. Coger con alfileres.
2. Cosed el bies usando como referencia el doblez de la cinta.
3. Quitad los alfileres, doblad el bies por encima del filo de la tela, poner alfileres y coser otra vez.
4. Si lo habéis hecho bien en esta pasada deberías haber cosido el revés de vuestro bies.
Final Notes
It may look easier to attach the bias to the border and sew it in one go, but actually, most of the fabric you were supposed to be sewing may escape your stitches. You will regret it, it happened to me with my
farseer costume, and I had to sew by hand all the places where my bias had gone loose.
Puede parecer más fácil poner el bies en el borde y coserlo de una vez, pero cuando os deis cuenta de de que en realidad la mayor parte de vuestra tela se os ha escapado al coser os arrepentiréis. A mí me pasó con mi cosplay de vidente y tuve que coser a mano muchas imperfecciones donde se me había soltado el bies.

Ignis cosplay had a lot of bias binding, I used around 10 meters of white bias tape.
