Sometimes you start an anime series and you fall in love straight away with a character. That is what happened to me when I started watching Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu. The moment I saw her I wanted to make an Emilia cosplay.
The character starts as a badass, it is true that later on she becomes more of a secondary character with less action but I still loved her dresses. I had already finished her cosplay about a week after the second episode had aired. However, I couldn’t share photos of my finished cosplay till much later.
How I made it
I usually choose plain fabrics for my cosplays but this time I chose a white jacquard fabric that I thought really fitted the character. She wears a jacket which was a bit difficult to figure out. It has a rather weird shape with shoulders off. I had to add elastic to the sleeves to make sure they didn’t fall off.
I made a pleated skirt with plain white twill fabric and added the ruffles and all the details in lilac satin. Then I used white chiffon for the extra fluffiness and a royal look. The book covers were really easy to make with stretch fabric and ruffled fabric on the edge. Also, I was specially proud of my sleeves which I handpainted on fabric before I attached them using several tones of gold.

The first time I wore this cosplay was for a photoshoot with a friend. I was watching the series and had just finished my cosplay and she needed a model to present a job in uni. Unfortunately, she couldn’t release the photos until the course was over. After a while we both forgot and I never ever saw what happened to those photos.
Time passed and I never got the chance to wear Emilia to a convention. However, I still wanted to take some photos with her. That is why I decided to take some photos at home with my new camera to practice a bit. As I had leftover fabric from the dress I decided to make her cloak as well. I would have loved to go to the woods to take some pictures, I may still do it some day.
